Word Prompt: Midnight

Tip toe on the wood

Hard and cold like naked steel

Silent mistress on her back

Bending to my tired step

Weary groping through the night

Half-shut, half-awake in dream

Where I find the world in peace

In strife, turmoil, love, sleep

To the drink I draw a sip

Savor the drop and find my way home

The cloud that carries me

To midnight seas

I drift in waves unseen.

About 365 Things to Write About

I'm inspired by almost anything and everything creative - nature, architecture, art, words, music...I like to roam along streets, through foreign countries, and within my mind where the world is full of endless possibilities. I dream of being an idealist, but I've experienced too many harsh realities for that wish to ever be true. Therefore, I look for the hope and the good in small nuances, and I express my thoughts and feelings about the world around me on pages and canvases whenever I can.

  1. Darkness as far as one sees
    Temperature dipped below seven
The heart whispers ‘be still’, all else screams ‘flee’
    Anticipation grows
Fear holds its hand and builds as one
Tear streaked cheeks and quivering lips
    Glamour fades with light
Possibilities remain but all else sleeps
    Tension thick
    Courage falters with time
    Trepidation lives at midnight
